    Bahraich: Reinforcing the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the NIPUN Bharat Mission, the Basic Education Department organised the NIPUN Sankalp Workshop 2026 at Hariyali Resort in Bahraich. The workshop brought together education officials, academic experts and stakeholders from Bahraich, Gonda and Shravasti to strengthen efforts towards ensuring that every child achieves Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) by Class III through competency-based, child-centric and activity-based learning.

                The programme commenced with floral tributes to Goddess Saraswati and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Chief Development Officer (CDO) Sunil Kumar Dhanwanta, Basic Shiksha Adhikari Ashish Kumar Singh, District Inspector of Schools Sarvadanand, Assistant Director of Basic Education Ram Sagar Pati Tripathi and other dignitaries. Students welcomed the guests with Saraswati Vandana and colourful cultural performances reflecting India’s rich traditions and local heritage.

                Addressing the gathering, CDO Sunil Kumar Dhanwanta said that the NIPUN Bharat Mission is not merely an educational programme but the foundation of every child’s bright future. He stressed that coordinated efforts by the district administration and the education department would help create a high-quality learning environment in every government school, ensuring that the district achieves its goal of making every child academically proficient within the stipulated timeline.

    “The success of the mission depends on our collective commitment. Every child deserves access to quality education, and every school must become a centre of joyful and effective learning,” Dhanwanta said, urging officials and teachers to work in mission mode.

    District Basic Education Officer Ashish Kumar Singh described proficiency as a shared responsibility rather than merely a departmental target. He urged Block Education Officers (BEOs), State Resource Group (SRG) members, Academic Resource Persons (ARPs) and teachers to strengthen academic support, classroom mentoring, regular monitoring and innovative teaching practices across schools.

                District Inspector of Schools Sarvadanand said that a strong foundation in elementary education is essential for strengthening the entire education system. He called for greater coordination among educational institutions to improve learning outcomes.

                Assistant Director of Basic Education Ram Sagar Pati Tripathi emphasised the importance of effective monitoring, innovation and a results-oriented work culture to achieve the objectives of the NIPUN Bharat Mission. He appealed to all officials and teachers to pursue the mission with dedication and accountability.

    Principals of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) highlighted continuous professional development, teacher capacity building, competency-based pedagogy and effective assessment as the pillars of the mission’s success. They assured participants of sustained academic guidance and institutional support.

                During the technical sessions organised by the NIPUN Cell of the State Project Office, subject experts made detailed presentations on the latest strategies under the NIPUN Bharat Mission, competency-based learning, FLN indicators, academic assessment, effective use of Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs), school monitoring and data-driven planning. Participants interacted with experts, clarified their queries and shared best practices from their respective districts.

                Experts said the workshop aimed to prepare a common roadmap for ensuring every child becomes proficient by Class III, promote child-centred and activity-based learning, strengthen the academic role of all stakeholders, encourage innovation, facilitate the exchange of best practices and improve learning outcomes through continuous assessment, monitoring and academic support.

                BEOs, SRG members and ARPs presented successful initiatives and innovative practices implemented in their respective blocks while discussing local challenges and practical solutions. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening classroom observation, academic mentoring and competency-based teaching at the school level.

                The workshop concluded with all participants taking a collective pledge to work with complete dedication and accountability to ensure that every child in the district acquires foundational literacy and numeracy skills in line with the objectives of the NIPUN Bharat Mission.

                The event was attended by District Basic Education Officers from Bahraich, Gonda and Shravasti, DIET principals, District Inspector of Schools, Block Education Officers, State Resource Group members, Academic Resource Persons and experts from the NIPUN Cell of the State Project Office. Organisers expressed confidence that the deliberations and recommendations emerging from the workshop would provide fresh momentum to the implementation of the NIPUN Bharat Mission across the participating districts.

  • Bahraich Embraces Digital Learning as “The Teacher App” Gets Grand Launch

    Marking a major push towards modern and technology-enabled education, “The Teacher App,” an innovative initiative developed jointly by the Bharti Airtel Foundation and NITI Aayog, was launched in Bahraich during a special ceremony organized at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium. The app was formally inaugurated by Chief Development Officer (CDO) Sunil Kumar Dhanwanta and District Basic Education Officer (BSA) Ashish Kumar Singh in the presence of senior education officials, Block Education Officers, SRGs, ARPs, principals, and teachers from different parts of the district.

    Speaking at the event, CDO Sunil Kumar Dhanwanta highlighted the growing importance of digital tools in transforming the education system and ensuring better learning standards. He said the newly launched application should not remain limited to providing teaching material alone, but should become a dynamic platform that connects classroom teaching, innovative educational practices, and continuous monitoring of students’ academic progress.

    Encouraging active participation from educators, the CDO urged teachers to use the platform for sharing successful teaching methods, creative classroom activities, and innovative ideas so that a healthy culture of learning, collaboration, and academic excellence could be promoted across the district. He noted that such digital initiatives would not only strengthen teachers professionally but would also contribute significantly to improving educational outcomes among students.

    During the programme, the “Saksharta Bharti Abhiyan” booklet was also unveiled jointly by the CDO, BSA, and the State Project Coordinator of the Bharti Airtel Foundation. Officials described the booklet as an important tool for promoting literacy awareness and community participation in education. Under the initiative, schoolchildren will encourage literacy among their family members and communities during the summer vacation, helping spread educational awareness at the grassroots level.

    Addressing the gathering, BSA Ashish Kumar Singh said the inclusion of provisions related to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 makes the application highly progressive and relevant to present educational needs. He stated that the app would not only enhance teachers’ technical capabilities but would also help improve classroom teaching standards and students’ learning achievements in government schools.

    Block Education Officer Anurag Kumar Mishra informed that “The Teacher App” will be available free of cost for all teachers and can be accessed through Android, iOS, and web platforms, making it easy to use on smartphones, tablets, and computers alike. Available in both Hindi and English, the app offers several modern features including digital lesson planning, e-content and video-based study material, subject-wise question banks, practice resources, online training modules, educational content-sharing facilities, and AI-powered academic assistance.

    He further stated that the platform would also encourage collaborative learning and innovative teaching practices among educators. The programme was attended by Bharti Airtel Foundation State Project Coordinator Brajesh Bhardwaj along with foundation teams from Bahraich, Shravasti, and Lucknow.

    UP Govt Mandates Daily Newspaper Reading in Government Schools

                In a move aimed at nurturing reading habits and enhancing awareness of current affairs among students, the Uttar Pradesh government has made daily newspaper reading mandatory in all government-run schools across the state.

                Acting on the directive, Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) of Bahraich, Ashish Kumar Singh, has instructed all Block Education Officers (BEOs) to ensure strict compliance with the order at the ground level. Under the initiative, students of the Basic Education Department will now read Hindi and English newspapers every day after the morning assembly.

                The directive was issued by Director General of School Education Monica Rani to all Basic Education Officers, mandating uniform implementation in government primary and secondary schools. Following the winter vacation, which ended on January 14, 2026, all school heads in the district have been directed to implement the order without delay.

                Speaking on the initiative, BSA Ashish Kumar Singh said the programme is designed to strengthen students’ reading ability, improve language skills, promote critical thinking, and enhance general knowledge. He added that encouraging newspaper reading would also help reduce excessive screen time among children by fostering healthy reading habits.

                Providing further details, Chittaura Block Education Officer Anurag Kumar Mishra said teachers have been instructed to purchase reputed Hindi and English newspapers using the composite grant fund available to schools. Teachers have also been asked to encourage students to read newspapers not only after the morning assembly but also during recess or free periods.

                According to official sources, the initiative is based on a government order issued on December 23, 2025, by Additional Chief Secretary (Secondary and Basic Education) Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma. The order mandates that at least 10 minutes every day be earmarked exclusively for newspaper reading during the morning assembly in all government schools.

                As per the guidelines, schools must make reputed Hindi and English newspapers available in their libraries. During the designated reading time, students will take turns reading important national, international, and sports news, along with selected editorials. Teachers will also encourage students to identify difficult words as the “Word of the Day,” which will be displayed on school notice boards to help build vocabulary. Younger students will be motivated to prepare scrapbooks using newspaper clippings.

                While the formal order was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary, its statewide implementation is being monitored by Director General of School Education Monica Rani. The government has also made provisions for newspapers to be supplied at government expense, and compliance has been made mandatory for all government schools.

                Education experts have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards reviving the reading culture in schools and making students more informed and aware of the world around them.
