Bahraich, August 10: An inspiring step towards promoting rural entrepreneurship and strengthening agricultural services at the grassroots level was witnessed at the Indian Bank Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Bahraich, where certificates were distributed to 19 candidates who successfully completed training under the Krishi Udyami Swavalamban Yojana (Agricultural Entrepreneur Self-Reliance Scheme).
Chief Development Officer Sunil Kumar Dhanvanta was the chief guest at the certificate distribution programme, while Deputy Director Agriculture Vinay Kumar Verma attended as the special guest. The programme was conducted by RSETI Director Suresh Maurya.
CDO urges trainees to establish Agri Junctions
Addressing the trainees, CDO Sunil Kumar Dhanvanta congratulated all 19 participants and urged them to convert their training into sustainable self-employment opportunities. He encouraged the trainees to obtain bank finance and establish Agri Junction One-Stop Shops in their respective blocks.
He said such centres could play an important role in providing farmers with reliable agricultural advice, modern farming techniques, and quality seeds, fertilizers and plant-protection medicines at appropriate prices under one roof.
The CDO stressed that agriculture entrepreneurs should not limit their activities to operating shops but should actively reach out to farmers in rural areas. He called upon them to educate farmers about organic farming, sustainable agricultural practices and environmentally friendly methods of cultivation.
He said greater awareness and adoption of sustainable farming techniques could help improve farm productivity, reduce unnecessary expenditure and ultimately contribute to an increase in farmers’ income.
Focus on sustainable and environment-friendly agriculture
During his interaction with the trainees, the CDO emphasised the need to make agriculture more environment-friendly. He encouraged the newly trained entrepreneurs to act as a bridge between farmers and modern agricultural knowledge, ensuring that farmers receive accurate information and practical guidance.
He also highlighted the importance of extending the benefits of government schemes and modern agricultural practices to a larger number of farmers in rural areas.
Trainees of ‘Prerna’ model canteen also encouraged
Following the certificate distribution ceremony, the chief guest inspected various activities being conducted at RSETI. He also interacted with trainees undergoing training under the ‘Prerna’ Model Canteen programme.
The CDO encouraged the trainees to make effective use of the skills acquired during their training and explore opportunities to establish canteens in their respective blocks. He said such initiatives could provide avenues for self-employment while also creating local livelihood opportunities.
Plantation drive held at RSETI campus
As part of the programme, CDO Sunil Kumar Dhanvanta also participated in a tree plantation drive on the RSETI campus, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Earlier, Lead District Manager Jitendra Kumar Masand welcomed and felicitated the chief guest and special guest. He highlighted the importance of skill development and entrepreneurship training in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural areas.
RSETI Director Suresh Maurya coordinated the programme and briefed the guests about the ongoing training activities of the institute.
All employees of the Indian Bank RSETI, Bahraich, were present during the programme. The event concluded with an emphasis on transforming trained rural youth into successful entrepreneurs and making them active contributors to the development of agriculture and rural livelihoods in the district.
